New Year’s Party Survival Guide

Well, we've managed to make it through the holidays and here we are at the brink of another year quickly coming to an end. But don't take off your dancing shoes just yet because in my opinion, 2015 has been a great year... And if you're like me; you have a lot to celebrate.

So what's my advice for your New Year's Eve shenanigans? Go ahead! Be the life of the party! Shake your 'Groove Thang' (assuming you've still got one) - But don't let the food and spirits derail all your hard work and progress toward living a happier, healthier life. After all, you do want to live to see 2017, right???

Instead, enjoy yourself and use these tips to avoid overeating at your holiday party:

  • Remember that a plate of appetizers is considered a meal. So don’t load up on appetizers and then sit down to a full meal.

  • Be sure to survey all of your food options before beginning to eat. Ogle the entire buffet but only choose a few of your favorites and then fill the rest of your plate with greens.

  • Don't forget that liquid calories count, too! Stick with only one calorie-filled drink (two at the most) and then switch to plain or sparkling water.

  • And if you really want to cut down on party food calories, be sure to eat a sensible meal before you arrive at the party...

Do all this and you will be fine! Oh, and just in case I don't see you when the ball drops in Time Square, I want to thank you for being a loyal reader of my posts, and for your 'likes' and kind comments on Facebook. May you, and yours, have a very Happy & Healthy New Year!

And always remember: Keep moving toward a better you!
